CCU to celebrate Homecoming 2023 with various events Oct. 24-28

Coastal Carolina University celebrates Homecoming 2023 with several events Oct. 24-28 that are open to the public, including a parade through downtown Conway, an alumni and friends golf tournament at The Hackler Course, an alumni TEALgate, and Chanticleer football facing off against Marshall in Brooks Stadium. This year’s homecoming theme is “It’s the Great Homecoming, Teal Nation.”

Tuesday, Oct. 24:

CCU Bleeds Teal blood drive

11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Spadoni Park Circle

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be on campus for a blood drive. All donors get their choice of a T-shirt and a $10 e-gift card to a restaurant of their choice. To schedule your appointment, visit redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code: Chants

Friday, Oct. 27:

19th annual CCU Homecoming Golf Tournament

10 a.m. shotgun start, The Hackler Course

CCU alumni and friends will compete in a homecoming golf tournament at The Hackler Course. Participants will enjoy a round of golf with cart and compete for awards including tournament champions, longest drive, and closest to the pin. There will also be raffle prizes. The event, which is sold out, is sponsored by Sparks Toyota, Bojangles, The Yahnis Company, and the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation.

Trunk-or-Treat

6-8 p.m., YY Parking Lot

CCU Teaching Fellows is hosting Trunk-or-Treat, a community trick-or-treat initiative for friendly, spooky fun. Registered volunteers will decorate their vehicle trunks and pass out candy to attendees.

Saturday, Oct. 28:

Halloween Golf Cart and CCU Homecoming Parade

9 a.m. start, Downtown Conway

Members of the campus and Conway communities join together to share their pride for Teal Nation – with a Halloween twist. This year, the annual Conway Halloween golf cart parade and CCU homecoming parade combine for one “monster” of a parade in downtown Conway. The parade begins at the Conway Public Safety Building on 9th Avenue, then continues down 9th Avenue to Laurel Street and follows Laurel Street into downtown Conway, ending at Marina Drive and Elm Street. Spectators are invited to view the parade along the route, but are reminded to be mindful of private property. Groups will be judged on theme title and uniqueness, workmanship, carrying out the theme to the fullest, originality, and overall effect/street appeal, with awards presented at the end of the parade.

FanFest @ Teal Town

3-6 p.m., Outside of Brooks Stadium near Gate 1 and the Marrio & Josh Norman Field House

FanFest @ Teal Town, sponsored by Grand Strand Nissan, is an interactive experience where Chanticleer fans have the opportunity to enjoy free Marco’s pizza and Bojangles, inflatable games, a mobile gaming truck, and full access to the Bud Light portable bar.

Alumni TEALgate

3:30-5:30 p.m., Blanton Park

Prior to the football game, CCU alumni and their guests are invited to a TEALgate, which will feature live music, light refreshments, yard games, inflatables for kids, and more. Register by Wednesday, Oct. 25 at xhfangfu.com/alumni/events. The TEALgate is sponsored by State Farm – Bobby Clary, a 2015 CCU graduate, and State Farm – Rebecca Gibson, and the food is sponsored by Waffle House.

The CCU football team will begins its Chant Walk from Blanton Park to Brooks Stadium at approximately 3:30 p.m., and the Chanticleer Regiment will perform at 4:40 p.m.

Homecoming Football Game vs. Marshall

6 p.m., Brooks Stadium

The Chanticleers will host Marshall on the teal turf in a sold-out Brooks Stadium. This year’s Alumnus and Young Alumnus of the Year will be recognized at the game. “The Spirit of the Chanticleer” award, which recognizes students from each class who demonstrate excellence in school spirit, will be presented on the field at halftime. Overall winners of the Homecoming competition for each of the categories will also be announced between the third and fourth quarter.
